HI: I just ordered the ety ER4P and will have them tomorrow morning. Yes I sold my E2 and a pair of grado SR-225 but still have one pair of SR-225.

Looking forward to your thoughts especially with FM portable radio. Hope you get a good seal, if not try the foam tips.

Lou...

...why the P for home use and not the better sounding S? Well, at least you have the option to switch additional resistors into the signal path.

Hi Lou-
I am really interested in hearing your observations. especially in the bass area. Also, if you could do any DVD watching with them, it would be nice to hear about that as well.
John

PS...glad you didn't stop posting

Lou,

Didn't you have these about a year ago or is my memory playing tricks on me? I can not remember why you sold them. I have had mine for quite a while and I will not part with them especially for travel.

HI JOHN: How are you? Yes your memory is just great. I had the ER4P about a year ago but could not get used to the in ear thing. But since I have been using the shure E2 for a while now I think I am ready to try again. And from what I have read the ER4P is way better than the E2. I also have the adapter to make it an s fore home amp use. I need to hear how the ER4P-S sounds against my grado SR-225 in my ULTRA amp and my MiniDisc deck. And of course the ER4P in my portable radio and portable minidisc with the super mini amp V6.28C

Lou, I remember the fit issues you had the last time you had the Ety's. If you experience the same thing, try the foamies instead of the silicome ear pieces. They're really doing the trick for me this time around. I could wear them for hours now.

Hi, Lou!

I've just gotten a pair of Ety 4p's, and an adaptor cable. I think they sound great, and I adore the isolation.

I have had problems wearing the white rubbery tips for any length of time. I haven't figured out how to get them to be inserted far enough without hurting my ears, and how to make them stay there. After a short number of minutes, my ears pop, and I lose the seal. Without a seal, the sound is much degraded.

The black foamies have worked very well, are very comfortable, and sound good. Seal seems to be no problem with them, and I'll also encourage you to try them.

Now, I'm considering amps, and the META42 is what I'm looking at.

WOW now that you have said that I am jumping off a bridge and end it all because I was looking forward to my new thing. Please don't come to any of my parties because you might get every body to jump off the same bridge. LOL

Have you tried the difference with an amp. The S is much better than the P.

The problem comes when deciding on which one to use for a portable unamped and which portable. On an Ipod, the S still sounds better but a little less full.

HI: How are you? I really got the ER4P fore my portable rig but since I have the s adapter I will try it on my ULTRA and SR-225 home rig also. But I am really looking fore outstanding portable sound with my portable stuff. My SR-225 and ULTRA with my MiniDisc deck blows me away for now and I am very happy with my main rig. Its the portable rig that I would like to be a killer rig like my main rig.

Yep (Headroom Supreme, Meta 42, etc.).

Tastes simply aren't universal.

Besides, why would anyone want to put parasitic resistance in their signal line?
