Not sure if this is the best forum for this question but...

I plan to pick up a portable DVD player soon for use during my commute. Assuming the player can handle mp3's burned to standard CD-R's, if I burn the mp3's to a DVD-R, will it work the same way? If so, I can potentially get 4.7G of storage on a disc, right?

Also, how do most DVD/mp3 players (portable or home) navigate mp3 files & the folders in which they are organized? I realize that is probably unique to each player, but was wondering how some do this. Is it usually done via the TV/LCD screen?

Lastly, any recos on portable DVD players are welcome too. Looking for a small one (7" screen).

TIA!

It varies from player to player.
I have tried it on my current samsung and it doesn't seem to work, but on a Marantz universla it worked
So I guess test a DVD before you buy the player.
It is a good idea if the battery life on the DVD player is good

Still a HDD player would be even better.
ALso there are softwares capable of recording upto 6 hours worth of CD quality music to a normal DVD which can be read by virtually any DVD drive.
I think the music is upsampled to 48KHz.

Have a look around for Audio DVD creator.
I haven't tried it yet but do have the software

Checkout http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers for some people comments and the features of some DVD players. I think the DVD-MP3 checkbox is what you need to search for to find some players that handle MP3s on DVDs.

As for navigation, I'm not sure but some may need a screen and is directory based. I don't see how one could navigate with a small limited LCD.

My super cheap initial dvd portable can do this.
The navigation isn't the greatest though.
This fact is compounded when you have tons of mp3s on a dvd-r.
