Will A Steinberg UR44 Work As A Good Dac?

So, this is an interesting situation for me. I originally was going to get a Schiit Stack of the Modi/Magni and be all happy about it and keep my Steinberg UR44 down in my drum room, for the sake of convenience. Then it occurred to me, the UR44 may be a decent DAC. So, I then thought if that would work as a decent DAC, I would then get the Asgard 2 or another headphone amp around that 250-280 price range for better quality (I would get Solid State).

My 2 questions/concerns:

1) Would the Steinberg UR44 actually work as a decent DAC and be comparable to other DAC's, like the Modi?
2) If the answer to 1 is yes, then my next concern is the Steinberg only has 1/4" outs, and most headphone amps have RCA in. Is using an adapter or 1/4" to RCA cord ok, or would it mess with the quality too much? Basically, would Steinberg UR44 -> Asgard 2 (or other good headphone amp around that price) be much better than a Modi/Magni Stack?

Thanks in advance guys!
