I have an extra DVD player lying around. Not too bad of a player. It's a Hitachi 725U. Just wondering if it would be a better source than something like a Sony D-EJ1000.
I don't have a D-EJ1000 but am considering getting one that's why I'm asking. I haven't got my headphone amp yet so I want to do more planning (which is often very exciting) and when my amp arrives I'll know what to do. Sometimes believing it is better makes it the better although sometimes you can't force yourself to believe in a lie.
lol. Ya I'm sure it does. I just want to know what generally is a better source. DVD players or PCDPs. I have never really used my dvd players for music and I don't have much confidence in it. But we're talking about DVD players vs PCDPs so I figure it's another matter.
I don't know how good your dvd player is, but the one I tried gave me random static/distortion. Otherwise, the sound itself was decent. Maybe your toshiba won't do that, I dunno. I've heard nontechnical opinions that dvds read cds better because of the more precise and fine technology and machinery inherent in dvd technology.
Just about any stand alone player will be better than a PCDP.
The difference will not be hard to tell.
(using a decent set of phones and amp of course!)
Well I'm obviously not gonna be using the dvd headphone jack. I want the Sony D-EJ1000 but since I don't have too much use for a PCDP (a reason I gave away my PCDP) right now it might not be worth it to me. Since I have an extra dvd player lying around that doesn't get used much I was thinking of using it as my source if it would give me better sound. I don't exactly want to buy a cd player since I have a good one at home for my home system.
I plan to hook up a Corda HA2 to it with HD600s. I don't think I would want to spend the money on the PCDP at the moment if my DVD player will give me better soudn than the PCDP's lineout.
