I was at my son's school yesterday, and I took a look at the class rosters, and I saw lots of Kaitlyn/Kaylee/Kelly type stuff. Katie/Katy were in there, too. I didn't notice any Alexandra (maybe there was an Alexa or something), Isabella, or Sophia on the 3rd grade roster.

I'll have to take a look at the kindergarten roster, too. It is kind of hard to predict what parents are naming their kids in 2006 and 2007 in comparison to what parents did back in 2001. Times change so quickly, but I get your point about giving an over-popular name.

Sophia... we are actually considering Sophie as a name for our daughter, should we have one. I also like Isabella, though would probably spell it Isabelle.

In 2005, 0.6254% of girls named were named Sophia - 11th on the popularity list. 0.7483% were given the name Isabella - 6th on the list. Emily was tops, with 1.1818%.

My Wife's name is Emily.

And mine is Jason.

So to us, Sophia and Isabella seem like rather uncommon names.

Katherine, DEFINETLY. Isabella is way too out there. Alexandria is okay. Sophia just isn't as beautiful as Katherine. In order of beauty (Greatest to least), I'd say: Katherine, Alexandria, Sophia, Isabella.

Recently had a baby girl myself. A week ago.

Torned between names and names. It's really important to know what the flow of your last name. Believe me you should think about the full name as well.

Anyway, I liked your choices from Katherine (contemp), Isababella (classic), Sophia (french modern), etc. I really like your choices but you can expand beyond many variations like Katy, Isa, Sofie, etc.

Must need your last name and what the kid feels like.

I'm leaning toward Katerina. I always like Latin/Slavic names.
