I was at my son's school yesterday, and I took a look at the class rosters, and I saw lots of Kaitlyn/Kaylee/Kelly type stuff. Katie/Katy were in there, too. I didn't notice any Alexandra (maybe there was an Alexa or something), Isabella, or Sophia on the 3rd grade roster.
I'll have to take a look at the kindergarten roster, too. It is kind of hard to predict what parents are naming their kids in 2006 and 2007 in comparison to what parents did back in 2001. Times change so quickly, but I get your point about giving an over-popular name.

[one class had three three students named "Alexandra" and two named "Katherine"...] There were only two students named "Isabella" and no students named "Sophia" during that entire time frame. I guess there is probably a geographic bias in there , but you may want to consult a local teacher friend if you can. It's not a great boost to one's identity and self-esteem during childhood when four people respond to their teacher in class when their name is called for some reason. Just something to consider...good luck ![]() |
