Hello everyone!

I'm new here and decided to make an account and ask some questions. There's alot of good info but not exactly helping me in making a choice, wich headphone i should buy. I do understand headphones are a personal prefference. But any guidance is welcome.

So ive been searching the internet and ive seen a couple of headphones that are interesting.
My Current headphone is a Sony MDR-1R. Its great however its starting to wear fast now. Leather is almost gone. and the cushions are almost flat. my ear touches the hard inside. Its only 4 years old. My father has an Sony MDR-CD550 from 1996 (purchase year) and its been heavy used for his Hi-Fi Stereo system. And only started to show real signs of wear 2/3 years ago. Made me think the older stuff had a much higher quality? and mine is basically done. unless i replace the cushions etc. but might aswell buy a better one.

I mostly listen to trance/chillstep but also 70s 80s and 90s music. And i have long sessions behind the pc for web developing. Wireless isn't a must, but if the sound is right it could be nice having no wire.

The headphone is connected to a Logitech Z5500 System and if i have to i can buy an AMP for it. ive used an Harman kardon amp and the sound it gave was much better than my Z5500. on my headphones.

Anyways the models ive seen are the following:

AKG K701
Sony MDR-1AM2 << successor for my MDR-1R (but im afraid the same will happen to the fake leather)
Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm
Audio-Technica ATH-M50X

Wireless ones ive seen:
Sony WH-CH700N
JBL E65BT

They are all around the same price range where the JBL E65BT is the most expensive of all. Anydifferent model suggestions around their prices is always welcome.

Hopefully someone can help me out making a good choice.

Greetings Mark!

Goedenavond, vriend.

I started out with AKG headphones, the K550's, AKG are pretty light on bass and I found them quite lacking after a short time. the K701's are excellent for gaming from what I heard, good sound stage making it easier to pin-point locations in-game etc.
My next purchase was the Beyerdynamic DT770's, if you like trance I'm willing to bet you'll really like them, they have really deep bass and a good balanced tone for the money. I considered buying a pair again for travelling, as ironically I spend more than 70% of my time in the Netherlands working!

I've never heard any Audio Technica 'phones or the Sony MDR so I can't much help with any insight there.

Haha goedenavond!

Ah so i did read about the AKG K701 that you need to use them for a while before they really show their bass? Good to hear regarding the Beyerdynamic, i do have an issue with their design compared to my current MDR-1R haha i do prefer a good bass, but also prefer detail. on the other hand sound is much more important.
Thanks for your input!
