There's another hobby that's sucking hours per day (make that most of each day
eek.gif
) from me:

Final Fantasy X
biggrin.gif

Jeez, every Final Fantasy is a monster epic, and now on DVD this one is more monstrous than ever
eek.gif

The graphics are just gorgeous... this is almost like one long movie...

A movie over 100 hours, maybe! My most recent save game says I've logged 50 hours and I haven't even started treasure hunting for those Ultimate Weapons and stuff
eek.gif

The last Final Fantasy I played extensively was FF7 on the computer. I went all the way to the final boss before finding out that I haven't got what it takes to defeat it--not by a long shot
eek.gif
because I haven't got any Ultimate Weapons and other power ups. By then I didn't have the heart to go back and get them...

This time, no way! It's walkthroughs and guides all the way--I want to find all the secret everythings the first time! So that I can drive the final boss right into the ground the first time I fight it

I'd say play through the game first, then use a strat guide. But if you won't finish a game without the guide. . . then just use it, but you're missing out.

Very cool Joe. I've been heavy playing FFX myself the last week or so too. I'm pretty much right at the end, where I could take on the final boss at any time, but I'm scooping up all the secrets first.

BTW, if you've ever tried playing FFX before, you'd know that you kinda need a strategy guide for this one. Otherwise you'd probably take mega hours to find the Destruction Spheres in each temple puzzle (and mega hours just to solve each temple puzzle), if you find it at all. And given the Destruction Spheres are what lead to the game's nastiest Aeon...you kinda want to make sure you get them all.

What!? You need to get all the destruction spheres?? I missed half of them!

I'm kinda half-on and half-off with the strategy guides actually. I haven't got a copy all printed out and sitting next to me, rather, I print out bits and pieces or just go to the computer to read from them when I think it's a good idea to consult it to make sure I don't miss out on all the treasures. (They're all online; my brother has bought the 'official' guide but he hasn't come back from Australia yet; we all went to Australia but I came back earlier than all of them; I bought this game for my brother actually, turned out a bit different

) So it's not like I read what's going to happen before it happens every time. :p

If I can't finish the game the first time, I'll probably never finish it... it's too long as it is
eek.gif
I really don't have the time for this... but
biggrin.gif

Anyway I try to strike a balance... like I said, I'm not exactly stuck to the guide or anything
smily_headphones1.gif

Heck, I don't finish half of the games I start playing, or even the ones I really get into. I don't seem to have the knack for finishing them

So, anything that helps
tongue.gif

To vert: you can get them back later can't you??

Joe...I believe you can. After you get the Airship, you can go just about anywhere. Still, that's a lotta tedious trekking to do...woulda been easier to just pick them up along the way. When doing those puzzles you should follow the guide to the T. Yeah, you need to have activated all the Destruction Spheres to unleash Anima, which is the game's most powerful Aeon (actually the Magus Sisters might challenge that in terms of the Overdrive's sheer damage, but their unpredictable nature makes them harder to control).

Speaking of Overdrives, I thought FFX's Overdrives weren't very impressive. FF7 had much more impressive Limit Breaks and summons. The only impressive Overdrive IMO is Anima's, which is quite horrifying to behold just as my guide says.

Say, did you try paying Yojimbo mega bucks to make him do Zanmoto? That's not an overdrive, ok, but my guide says it takes 5 min. and anything that takes 5 min. should be pretty impressive to watch

I spend hours upon hours with tetris, theres no story, it's the same thing over and over, the graphics are mere monotone blocks. The music is glorious. I got a used copy of the original gameboy version at EB, thankfully GBA's are backwards compatible so I've been rocking tetris really damn hard, god I love that game. My highest score so far is 160,000 or so starting from level zero. My goal is to break 1 million. I also have the golden sun RPG, certainly it is no Final Fantasy X, in fact, it's no where near that, but, it's pretty neat for a little handheld system.

Well, I need to play tetris now that I have thought about it.

Got 162 lines, that the most lines I ever tetrisized but sadly my score was about 20,000 off of my previous high. oh well. I think it's impossible to get to level 20 personally, anyone done it on the game boy version of tetris?

Joe...no, still need to try that. Your guide must be seriously exaggerating...the longest summons I've ever seen were the Knights of the Round from FF7 and Eden from FF8, and both topped out at about a minute to a minute and a half max. The Magus Sister's Delta Attack takes about a minute, and it's the longest Overdrive I've seen so far in FFX.

I've actually beaten the game boy version of Tetris. You'll know when you beat it when you see a cool animation of a space shuttle flying up.

I am ashamed to say that I have had both FFX and Metal Gear for the PS2 since they came out and have started neither.

It seems I have so little free time as it is. You guys, however, have inspired me to start.

Well, be sure to consult a strategy guide for FFX if you have so little time. Otherwise you can never hope to finish it...

Some good ones can be had at GameFAQ
