Dr. Meier is revamping the Corda Move which should be available in the Spring unless there has been an update. I guess he is going to make great even greater. I paid in the 200s for mine when it was first released.

I think I actually paid much higher, nigh $300USD from Dr. Meier himself. After having it for a few months now, I can proudly say that the only flaw I complain about is how unsecure the battery slot is, which is easily fixed by a piece of tape. Being I got it less than 6 months ago, I now somewhat regret buying this version when a new one is so soon.

I think word is February is when the new Move makes due.

I just got one at a good price - for the price, you will not find a better amp. The construction is great - and its a fairly compact unit.

The Corda Move is a great portable amp - one of the top 2 or 3 amps available. The USB DAC is good... but... not great. The new Move will contain an improved USB DAC, but the amp is reported to be the same.

It appears Dr. Meier figures what he can sell over the course of 6-12 months and places his fabrication order. If they sell as expected, he runs out of stock and by that time he's ready to release his new design on our wallets

Ahhhhh... That makes sense. So he found his best volume discount price on materials for his target production quantity. Then, while he's moving those Move's out the door he works on the next generation. Then he can better project quantities for his next production run and make changes where needed. Good business plan for our 'here today... obsolete tomorrow' world we live in.

(otherwise known as... 'gonna get it tomorrow, was obsolete 3 days ago')

It's not that unusual; all good amp designers are always thinking of their next enhancements, what-if, etc. It takes quite a while to go from design to prototype to tuning to production build to shipping.

I believe my Move ran $230 direct from the good Doctor, shipping included.

Since Jan does the designs and then has Shanling in China build the amps, he has to order a certain quantity. The Move was very well received, and he ran out faster than he expected.

As also pointed out, the USB DAC was not as good as the amp in the Move. I am fairly sure Jan did not simply re-order the existing Move from Shanling as he wanted to improve on the sound if the USB DAC section.

As also mentioned above, people interested in a Meier portable but who do not need the USB DAC would do well to buy a HeadSix while they are still available. Had the HeadSix come out before the Move, I would have bought that rather than the Move, as I have no interest in or use for portable USB DACs.

So is spring the expected announcement for the Move's successor? I'm hoping for a rechargeable battery and improved DAC, as many other probably are. The Pico and Predator look great, but I just can't justify their price for a portable Amp/DAC. Plus, I prefer the warm sound of the Meier's amps with my headphones. Someone should start a new thread for updates on the new Corda Move...
