I am hooked into the streaming , and most of the time I like to listen to tidal, at home I use my tidal via audirivana and everything sounds great

enter into android dap world, and this is where I just hate listening to streaming, for example the difference between mango os player and tidal playing same album same remaster is really big

i have no complain whatsoever using dx220 ,using its mango os player, but we really need a solution with streaming. well i tried something downloaded an album from tidal using some software ( dont ask me how :) , and then put that album on my sd card, and one time played it through tidal streaming, and one time through uapp tidal and then through mango os, man the mango os playback difference is so much better

Any idea why this is happening , and is this across all daps, are there daps that handle tidal streaming better than others

The songs I download from Tidal sounds fine on my player.

Gave up on it.

Initially I liked that it performed better than Qobuz on DAPS running old versions of Android

But I just use Amazon Music HD.now

Simply put, every OS systems have different sound processing and handling...hence it effect sound performances. Every playback apps have their own ways of handling and processing also, and so it effect the sound quality. Even firmwares will also change the sound quality, more or less.

In conclusion, Tidal is just another App that is a playback app, and also handling downloading, buffing, and other stuff. How dedicated it is programmed to handle and process the sound performances ? We may never get the “behind closed door” details, but we can always rely on our own senses. IMO, you are correct, and that is why I don’t use tidal as a mean to enjoy high-performances music...even MQA.

The best way I have tried to and have positive observation is to use anything that run on IOS or MAC, Linux, then connect it to your external DAC. But still, it doesn’t outperform the same master files on your local storage and a dedicated DAP with dedicated OS
