Someone could give this closure. How much does a closed headphone of similar quality to the top IEMs cost?

ATH-ESW9 cost around $300 on ebay (no warrantee) $445(with warrantee on official site)

ATH-ESW10 around $550 (shipped form Japan on ebay) this portable headphone is AKA the king of portables.

this thread is sooooooooo weird. how to win friends and impress people for head-fiers. LOL but i'm with against the grain, strangely enough I have found that pretending not to be impressed, impresses them.hehe

X2 on the AT ESW9-10

In one word: Convenience.

I really don't like wearing my headphones unless I'm at home on my laptop. I wouldn't dream of wearing them out in public. Mainly because they have give no sound isolation whatsoever.

This is obviously a problem for most people with open back headphones as well. I would find it extremely annoying if I was sitting next to someone on the train with a pair of Grado's for example, purely because I could hear everything that they are listening to.

Someone once also attempted to mug me, because of this I am quite paranoid about the same thing happening again. I most certainly wouldn't want to use headphones in public because someone could just take them straight off the top of your head! Now I know IEM's are mean that I can hear less of what is going on around me but that is a risk I am willing to take I suppose...

no you don't have to do anything. if you have to impress a girl then she wasn't very interested in you in the first place. sorry bro.

I agree. I stopped trying to impress girls a while ago because it accomplishes nothing and just stresses you out. Be yourself and if they/she doesn't like you then it wouldn't matter anyway. Plus you'll end up saving money in the long run if they know they can't get whatever they want from you all the time. Trust me.

my question to the OP is have you ever listened to high-end universal IEMs?

the top right now are the Shure SE530, Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Pro, Sennheiser IE8, and Westone W3.

there are also models below them that are still very good by other makers such as Klipsch, Etymonics etc.

Nope.

How high up the scale to I need to go to equal or beat the KSC75?

omg image if she brought that guy to the gym you worked at and introduced him to you saying how you are the one that got her the body that got him and he thanks you in return. lmao that would be the worst possible scenario. i hope that doesn't happen to you.

convenience...

convenience in the amount of isolation it offers....allowing me to use it anytime anywhere be it walking on the streets or communing or even at home should i need the peace

convenience in its small low profile size....totally portable and i can slip them into my pocket with my dap

convenience when wearing it with glasses...most headphones open or closed clamp onto part of my glasses making it difficult to get a seal and causing major discomfort

convenience in comfort....i'm using um1s/w3...with the right tip i could wear them for hours....removing it once in a while to air my ears and in no way do they flatten my hair/ leave a red mark around my ears...

major downside thou is the price to performance but again....the last few years have been busy ones for the IEM industry...new players, new technology so it could only get better

Hahah, that might hurt for cap of days ^ ^ but at least I know it won't be happening for a while...Who cares, I think I value my music more than girls anyways...its always there when I need it and it is why I buy the most expensive headphones to impress it lol.

exactly. to expand on the isolation factor - not only does the IEM isolate outside noise from you the listener, allowing you to really enjoy music in very loud environments at very reasonable volumes - but you arent annoying everybody else with loud leaking music from your open earphones.

it just shows a guy doesnt have confidence in himself and hence relies on materialistic favours.
