The ER4 and ER6 are always well talked, and I have been surprised to see that Etymotic doesn't sponsor headfi, while almost all iem producers are (included Jaben). I understand that some years ago there was a representative of etymotic here. What's happened?

I agree

Maybe they'll think about sponsering if we stop posting about etymotic

Same reason beyerdynamic, audio-technica, AKG, and Koss aren't sponsors.

Why pick on Etymotic? The same question could be asked about a number of other members of the trade (RSA, Singlepower, Rudistor, Headamp, Eddie Current, Xin to name a few) all of whom depend far more on Head-Fi for business than Etymotic does. If I had to wager a guess it'd be for precisely the reason I just mentioned, the percentage of their business derived from Head-Fi is small and therefore their advertising dollars and more wisely spent elsewhere.

slighly larger company that etymotic, wouldn't you say?

You'd be better off saying, "and yet there's Westone/JAYS/V-MODA,etc."

Each company believe in different model of business, and like many others, may be sponsorship just not Ety's cup of tea.

actually, etymotic is lunching a new series of gaming and casual headphones called EDGE acustics, once they get to the market, they might require some advertising,

those are the intended replacements for the etymotic based altec lansing headphones,

Earphones is not etymotics main line of products. They are primarily a research & developement firm specializing in hearing testers & hearing aids. Thier expertice in these areas is legendary & quite easily spills over into thier earphones. The ability to taylor a hearingaids driver to match a persons ears comes in handy when one has the ability to test many ears & come up with an average response that suites most ears. They can taylor the driver to very closely track that response curve as in the ER4P/S earphone.
