Why is the Music for sale/Trading forum a washout?

I remember someone saying that forum wouldn't work when it was suggested that Jude open a music for sale/trade forum. I forget the reasons why someone said it wouldn't work, but that prediction certainly seems to have come true. There's almost no activity there. I don't exactly understand why, since much higher priced equipment seems to fly out of that selling arena.

I was wondering if there was a way to revitalize the Music sale/trade forum? I was cleaning up my collection the other day, and I realised I must have 50 cds I NEVER listen to anymore. Suppose we emphasised the "trade" aspect of that forum. If I listed the 50 discs I'm no longer interested in and everyone did the same, it would seem there might be quite alot of trade potential and musical enjoyment to share at minimal expense. Does that make sense to anyone? It's just an idea. Thoughts?

(Of course Aeberbach just amazingly GAVE ME five Elvis Costello cds, and this trade idea might put an end to that kind of extreme generosity -- which I am certainly grateful for today!

Whoever predicted that forum wouldn't work was absolutely right and should inherit all the unclaimed music that is posted there.

I put up a WTB request and got only 5 views in 2 months time, one of which was mine.

I just checked out that forum. I have looked there a few times before. I didn't see any body wanting to buy anything that I own. I also didn't see anything I was interested in.

Part of the reason I dont go there often is because when I log in there is hardly ever any new posts since my last visit. It's a vicious circle. No new posts=no look no look=no new posts.

Maybe the Music for sale/trade forum should be integrated with the Gear for sale/trade forum so more people can see it. Or at least put it in bigger print in the front page.

I agree with most of the points made here. I never really noticed the Music Trade forum until I was bored one day and clicking around the top of the Gear For Sale forum... Likewise, I never really noticed the Buyer/Seller Feedback forum.

Perhaps, like Gear For Sale, it should have it's own entry on the main page?

Anyhow... just my $0.02

It's probably not very active because of the fact that its usually not worth the hassle to get used CD's and make a transaction while its easier and possibly cheaper to get new CD's from retail stores.

That's why I though accenting the trade aspect would be good idea. No need for a transaction. Your cost is shipping only. Everyone posts a list of cds for trade and people check out each other lists. When two heads come together, you trade. Like I said, it's just a thought.
