Well, I have committed the most dumb act of the year thus far.
I got hail to the thief on vinyl and CD. I set down to write a paper and popped on the vinyl to play in the background for my first listen. It really sucked. I was thinking "wow, they really took that amnesiac voice distortion thing to a new extreme". The album was bad -- bloated, no rhythm, slow and boaring and LONG!
Then, while doing some more reading at a coffee shop the next day, I popped in the cd. Whoa! What the hell happened. I figured it just sounded better with a more attentive listen. Then I had an epiphany.
The vinyl are 45s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was listening at 33. No wonder it sucked. Having listened to it again, I think it is significantly better. What a retard. But, to be fair...after amnesiac...they could have fallen off the deep end with experimentation. Thankfully they did not.
