Why does the Focal Clear ($1490 new at Adorama) cost over 3 times the price of the Elegia ($399 new at Adorama)? $399 Price Here
As far as I'm aware the only difference is the backing on the headphones.
The Clear has mesh while the Elegia has aluminum plus sound dampening material.
I'd expect the Elegia back to cost more than the mesh on the Clear.
Does the mesh really cost as much as two Elegias?

I believe they have a copper voice coil on the clears and the Elegia has the Elear’s voice coil but it’s magnet structure is different than either the Clear or Elear. As to why the price difference it’s because they marked it at that price honestly. I have seen the clear for cheaper than they are but that’s the lowest I’ve ever seen the Elegia’s.

The Elegia's original MSRP is/was $899; the premium between the 2 headphones is still pretty significant.

As was stated, the original price of the Eligia was $900 and the low price is because they supposedly discontinued the Eligia earlier this year. Regarding the difference in MSRP prices, I've read from those that own both that the Clear is a more technically superior product (has better resolution, etc) so that will factor in as will getting an extra cable and just the fact that people are/were willing to pay more for it than they would something like the Eligia.
