I came to this forum a little over a year ago looking for $20 closed headphones for my computer.....and now I've dumped well over $1000 on this 'hobby'

So what was the reason you originally came to headfi?

I came here from HeadRoom looking for closed phones for around $150-$200 for use without an amp. I decided on the Ultrasone HFI-650 though I couldn't get it for a bit so I bought the Koss Portapro in the meantime and it went from there on...I seriously never intended to go this far with this hobby.

Word.

I remember going to my first meet last year, and seeing a tube headphone amp, in person, for the first time, and thinking "That's great and all, but I will never get that point in this hobby". LOL!

I was looking for some information on some Superex ST-Pro-B headphones that I'd found in a drawer... google turned up HeadWize. Stuck around (being the gadget addict that I am), built a Cmoy, got some Etys, went to the Winlock ProtoWoH, and the rest is geography. Err, history.

Damn you Google! I don't remember exactly what I was looking for, but my searching led me to Hydrogen Audio, which then led me here.

I was just looking for any site with advice from real, knowledgeable people (not pro reviews) that would tell me the best values in the headphone world. That site was Headwize, and the rest is history.

. I found out on anandtech that mx500s were good headphones, so I thought why not. Then, came headwize. Then head-fi. . .

Amen, though not too much longer for me. I have my headphone needs under control (excepting that 650 calling my name from across the waters). One last major item -> Universal player to end all Universal players, but this is the wrong place for researching that...
