Well, my HFI-780s arrived today, and I am very happy with them. They are the only Ultrasones I have heard, so I couldn't speak to any brand-wide sound signature though.

I think they are already burned in. I got them "used,like new" from a friend.

I am very fond of my Ultrasone ED9 and ED8.
The closed system makes it possible to play on a low level still separating you from the environment.
And others aren't disturbed by noise escaping from your headphone.
