Why did Sony discontinue the good earbuds?

Why did they stop the production of the good earbuds? There used to be MDR-E484, E747, some others...

Is the successor these the MDR-A44L? But, the only problem with the 44's is that they need a really high-end amp to sound good.

Read my sig. and feel the jealousy!

I think they go through phases. My set made it through closing carbinet doors, 15yrs on and still making music. So I guess Sony saw the light, to rack up sale, indestructable cans are not the way to go!

It's true though... some of us haven't bought Grados precisely because of the comfort issue.

As for Sony earbuds, the E888s are quite good. Build quality of recent Sony buds leave something to be desired though.
