I recently bought two pairs of V-Moda M80s from two different Radio Shacks, while the sale was still going on. I noticed something very interesting after taking them home and listening to them.
It appears there are 2 different boxes that were made:
1. This appears on V-Moda's site, but I believe it is for older units.
Notice the white top.
2. The newer (?) Box which has a bergundy top and a number of other differences.
Upon inspection of the contents of both packages, I noticed that the case for the headphones in (1) was smaller than the case in (2), and had a more rubberized feel.
The headphones themselves seemed identical, however, there was no serial number on the headphones contained in box (1), nor was there a serial number on box (1).
More confusingly, the zippers were different on both cases, and zipped up in different directions (which according to V-Moda's is a sign of a fake, or "fugazi," heaphone). Upon listening, both headphones sounded identical, so I don't think I was dealing with fake products, but rather just a failure of V-Moda to exercise consistency in their product marketing.
I wish I had more pictures, but is any able to corroborate any of this information? I looked all over Google and was barely about to find anything, so these findings are really only speculation at this point.
First real substantive post on the forums btw. Nice to be here.
