I know very little about cables, so i'm in no position to make any sort of opinion.
However, I have noticed that a lot of people have quite negative things to say about Monster Cables, and i was just wonder why that was.

I'm thinking if i know what's wrong with the Monster Cables (as sort of a benchmark) i'll better know what to look for in a good cable and what to be aware of in a bad cable.

Thanks.

There's nothing inherinetly wrong with Monster Cable. The stuff is pretty decent, perhaps overpriced but it generally looks better than the stuff at Home Depot. The issue most people have recently, is that Monster protects their trademarks very agressively and has brought suits against anyone using the word Monster. They range from small vintage clothing stores in the middle of bum-****** to Disney. Go a search here or on audioasylum for more info.

Pretty much what jefemeister said. The cables are fine, it is just their business practices and the fact that you are really paying for their marketing.

My take on M*****r Cables:

They are quite decent, but are much too expensive for what you'd get in terms of design, construction and build quality.

Most of M*****r's cables aren't worth even one-third of their retail prices.
