I think we all have that one person in our lives that has been our biggest inspiration. Whether it's a relative or not, who's your hero?

I'll start by saying that my hero is my mom. She was a single mom raising me and I know at times it wasn't easy. She's a very strong, very proud woman who's taugh me everything I know by her actions. I could have been a real knucklehead growing up in the area that I did but I have her to thank for keeping me on the straight and narrow. So for all of that and MUCH more,
I vote my mom as my hero.

Who's yours?

My hero is a little known man named Thomas Merton. A Trappist Monk who lived his life as closely to God as he could get. I don't know what to say beyond that, he was a good person, highly articulate, and he spoke to many beyond his cloister walls. He spoke to me and caused me to enter a religious order, not as strict as the trappists, but with our own vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience on our journey into God. Pretty intense stuff for a guy who loves headphones.

My father is my hero, as he was able to accomplish many things in his life. He did not spend a great deal of time with me as a child, but when he did, it was worthwile. I'm enjoying with him his last few weeks on this earth by his side. I hope he will understand how much I have been touched by his caring.

That's really cool man. Enjoy!!!

And when he goes, may he rest in peace, and may you find comfort from having had that time.

Yeah, I gotta second that, though I respect a lot of people for their peace saving work and effort to improve the world, including Dalai Lama and the Pope among others. No heroes though. I also respect the European leaders who joined the Golfwar v2, though I cannot respect Mr Bush for going into war "without" FN! But this should be in outside...

Listening to: 'Hero' by 'Enrique Inglesias' on Media Center 11

edit:
psxguy85,
I'm sorry about your father. Be sure to enjoy your last time with him.

I'm not sure who. Humble & selfless people I suppose.

Internationally:Anyone of the Lincoln/Gandi/King/Mandela lineage who can resonate with both hawks & doves and save us from the mindless 'us vs them' mentality.
