Note: This was not done on purpose (by the pet owner) and the cat is fine and back to normal.

"My sister-in law is from Oklahoma and has a slight accent. She has cats and when she lived in the south she would take them to the groomers and have what is called a Line Cut. To her a line cut is when all of the fur hanging down below the cat's tummy is taken off (because it gets matted or
snarled).

When she moved to Chicago with my brother, one of the cats fur got all tangled up during the move so she took it in for a line cut. She was quite surprised when she heard the price as it was twice as much as it was down south. She confirmed with the groomer that he understood what a line cut was and he said "yes, I know what a LION cut is." It seems her accent came out sounding like LION, not LINE... and this is how her cat was returned to her.

She cried for a week...but not as much as the cat. It was November in Chicago and the cat needed all the fur it had."

Gas in car to go to groomers $4.50
Cat car carrier $32.99
Grooming fee $80.00
Getting the look from one seriously pissed off cat: Priceless!

Oh no that's not his sister - it's been circulating around awhile, but it's still funny to see!

yah, cause there is no way someone could possibly give a cat this haircut, the precision and skill necessary would be mindboggling.

honestly though, I know the cat hates it, but that is like the cutest thing I have seen in my life.

I had a friend in college who had a cat that was the color of a golden retriever. He'd get it groomed like that all the time, minus the socks on the feet. Since the cat's hair is uniform in color (when cut short it looks the same, unlike the cat in the photos) it didn't look bad. Actually, we all thought it looked cool. But I guess like with people, not all haircuts look good on all cats. I really think, though, that if you're going to do that you have to lose the socks.

Every summer my sister-in-law gives her dog a similar haircut, although not as drastic.

I've actually seen that done on a local cat when I lived in Berkeley. Poor Lola. She seemed equally pissed and grumpy. She didn't have a Lion cut exactly, I think just the fur on her body was shaved, but not head or legs (I could be wrong).

I think it had to do with hygene/fleas, etc.

Walking home from work (well, BART) everyday and seeing poor Lola, it was a relief as her hair grew back.

But the pics above are pretty damn funny

pbirkett: thank you so much for the laughs. I saved both pics to my HD. You don't, by any chance, have any larger ones do you? God, those are funny...
