Right! I have a bone to pick with you lot!

Why didnt you tell me what i was missing with the iPod.

Got the Tracy Chapman Collection playing from my micromega stage 2 and rotel RC 960 preamp into the Xin and...........well WOW!

the "size" of the sound and image is unreal! Bass is tighter and deeper and whoa so natural.

there is still sibilance there though. need to work out what is causing it. could be the supermini as its getting driven pretty hard i guess.

Well, if you want more bass you have two options. The first? Stick with 4P. You won't drive the Xin amp as hard either. Or...you could get the proper cable for Ety's a 50 ohm resistor cable and not the 100 ohm one that Xin sells. See....Etymotic arranges the resistors a special way to get only 50 ohm resisance not 100. So the total is close to 70 not 120. This is indeed why 4P+S lacks so much bass. Gotta get it right. I've found myself using 4P's much more lately. Especially after hearing my 4P+S with a Gilmore V2. That had bass no matter the resistance.

i have the proper etymotic supplied cable. ER4-P24?the weird looking one.

its not so much the bass as the sibilance that annoys.

That's what I use to listen to my 4s and it really, really makes a difference. I was using the Xin SuperMini and my portable to drive them before and I thought both the bass and treble on the Ety's sucked. I hooked them up to the Gilmore and man did my opinion change fast...

as i said, they are an overkill for my MZ-R50.
you need something less transparent for portables

i the ety's are much more responsive to gear then my CD3000, which are more responsive of the DT880 and HD600.
after you get the seal, and a DECENT SOURCE AND AMP, no way to say: "they don't have bass". actually, i felt a bit of bass vibrations earlier with them, and that was with my Porta Corda, which hasn't got a very strong bass, compared to the EMP.
i wonder how they sound on $$$$ source and amp.. that would be BLISS, guys.
