Hello all!
I got these from the widow of a Siemens R&D engineer and don`t know what they are. They are huge, 7cm diameter, 200g heavy. Very high sound quality. obviously for sealed use, driven open I only get bass with a series resistor, at the expense of reduced sound quality. I don`t think they were for remote use, they only sound good directly at my ears.
Who knows them?

Those are generally called "speakers." 7cm is far from "huge," because they are most definitely NOT headphone drivers, but they likely sound poor placed away from your ears because they lack an enclosure.

I don't know how you judged them as have high sound quality. There's no way to tell that just wired and laying on a table.

Are there any other markings on them that are not visible in the photo? Maybe something stamped into the back of the surround near the connectors? Googleing the model number shows some reference to Seas drivers, but none of the measurements match up.

Interesting gift!

I didn`t use a headphone amp, but the speaker output of my Panasonic digital receiver. I`ve seen quite a lot of old fullrange drivers, but nothing like this (300 Ohm, no spider, polymer diaphragm).

Definitely possible that they are headphone drivers. I have some old, moldy headphones laying around ("Realistic Nova 20") that have 8cm paper drivers. They sound absolutely horrible.
yes, worse than ibuds or triports.
