WHo is the best metal group in history?

First of all, of course Led Zeppelin are metal.

In fact, they pretty much invented the genre. I even heard that the term 'heavy metal' was first coined to describe them.

(Which is a very strong possibility, seeing as how according to Webseter's dictionary, the term originated in 1974).

Anyways, IMO, the 2 greatest metal bands in the past are:

Led Zeppelin
Metallica

The 2 greatest metal bands in the present are:

Opeth
Children Of Bodom

This is a commnet that I was hearing here in this forum for a while, and I do not agree a little bit with it, but as everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I respect it, but anyway here I go, if you consider a more mature music, crap, then they are in fact, barely a little bit more than 15 millions copies were sold of the black album, people like it, and enjoy it...are the rest of the more recent production, but if you consider heavy metal a matter of speed and physical devastation, yes the first ones were more speedy and faster albums, but that does not make them better, maybe the lyrics, (I barely pay attention to them anyway, I concentrate myself in the music, riffs etc...better than the lyrics) I was listening heavy metal and rock in general, since I was a kid, and I do not consider the last albums of metallica crap, maybe different yes, but the music sounds more mature and IMO at the end a better and more refined product, (with the exception of saint anger, which I still do not undestand, what the hell are they trying to do with it???)

But this is just me, and my opinion, and that seems ot agree with them, and some guys out there, otherwise they would hang the gloves some time ago...don't you think? Nobody want to make a crappy job, or a mediocre job, sometimes the changes are not understood by the fans, that is normal, but that does not make the music wrost or better, just different...

everybody thinks they were, but Judas Priest was the original TRUE metal band, I mean, what's more metal than driving a motorcycle on stage!!...W.A.S.P. was great too..., and all the nu-metal stuff sucks, basically, all of the bands first mentioned
