as fun as it looks and great timing - a d&d, shadow run, gurps player from way back who eventually got into these computer 'rpg' from ultima to might and magic and wizardry - wish that that these games would not be called rpg as they have nothing to do with role play.
the word is bantered around too much now. you control an electronic representation of a story board, but have no control on emotion, feats or particular true role specific characteristics. even the best online games probably ultima online for role playing specifically does not come close to proper true pen and paper or live action playing and those are only shadows of actors who role play.
there needs to be a better name as rpg means nothing anymore beside adventure fantasy with sprites or 3d shapes hacking and blasting their way through sprits or 3d world.
that said, they are bloody fun way to pass time. if i had ps2, id buy it for sure!
Didn't know they were still making games for the PS2...
Anyway the PS2 has so many decent RPG's compared to Nintendo and Microsoft systems (exlcuding the SNES) that Odin Sphere just looks like another one to add to the long queue of games to try. Anyway the trailer reminds me a lot of the Tales games by Namco, which were all very good, so it might be worth taking a look at.
Wow, this game is so beautiful, the amount of detail is amazing! Battles are very fun and due to the game giving you so many items and limited inventory slots, this game encourages item use. I'm really liking the story so far too. So if you guys like action rpgs or games in general, definitely pick this game up. It won't stay in stores for long...
shigzeo - I hear you, it bugs me as well. I either didn't know or forgot that you were an old school roleplayer like myself. Now we'll have another thing to geek out about at the TO meet.
