I know a few people have ordered the A1000, but I only know of one person who has shared any opinions. Is anyone else close to getting there's and/or posting impressions? Also, I wouldn't mind hearing more from LT now that they have had a chance to burn in if he wouldn't mind.

I'm very close to ordering mine, so if no one is close to giving their impressions, then I'll just take the plunge, but if someone will be able to say something within the next seven days, then I'll hold off.

HI. How are you. The A1000 have over 200 hours on them and after the first 20 or so hours I really don't hear much of a difference with them form that point on. I listened to the A1000 while burn in a lot so ma-by thats why I really did not notice a big difference with burn in. Out of the box the highs were a bit unrefined as compared to the first 20 hour burn in. After that the highs were very refine. The mids and bass seemed to just stay the same. but of course I might be wrong about this. These are the first cans that to me seem to be great right out of the box and need very little burn in. I enjoy these cans very much and consider them to be the very best cans that I have ever heard. Now this is just my opinion. I really can't compare them to any other can that I have owned except that I would say that they have the some what sound of the grado but much more refine and greater sound stage. I could compare the sound stage some what to the Philip's 890s. Very big sound stage. The new type head band keeps the cans on my head very comfy and the cans do not move when I turn my head and just stay in place. I would like to hear a compare of the A1000 to the sony 3000 for what I have read I think that this might be a good comparison. Now please don't no one get these cans on what I have just posted. This is just my opinion and there will be more reviews by other members in a little while. I am very happy with these cans for home use for they are very big cups and not very portable but with my Max Out META42 they sound awesome to me but there could be a better match up with another amp I just don't know about that. I hope that this post is some what on target but we will see what other members have to say and what amps they use. Thank you.
PS
I have tried different kinds of music and feel that the A1000 can handle every type of music. Again this is just my opinion.

I'll add one interesting thing. I'm finding it very difficult to tell the difference between the $300+ A1000 and the <$200 A900. Yes there is a difference, but it is TINY to my ears. Obviously a lot of that cost difference is in the materials used, and I'm not entirely convinced it does that much to the sound. I could very happily use either without feeling left out of the 'Audio-Technica Experience'. Fit is the same, comfort is the same and the sound is nearly the same. You don't get Ti, but you do get a nice understated blue (in my view, the colour the the ATH-A100Ti should have been). And it's more than a third cheaper, even if you buy it at Audiocubes.
Maybe I'll start picking up the diferences after some serious time on the A1000, but currently to me the two are interchangeable. Maybe Duncan with his more experienced ears can pick up the specific differences when we hook up.

Hey bangraman,

How do you feel the A900 and the W100 compare. I know they are two different animals but I'm curious nonetheless.

Often you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

If you post early impressions, you can get others excited. When they buy, and they're disappointed, they blame you. Worse, the "I told-you-so-sayers" who usually haven't heard the headphones post notes saying "I was sure it was crap and you're an idiot." Then the notes change to "it was worse than anyone thought and those who posted impressions were misleading everyone."

If you don't post, then you're holding back information from others who want to know what you think, or people think you're unhappy.

You're completely right JML, and normally I wouldn't post anything like this, but I want to do a lot of listening to some new headphones over my Christmas break, which is approaching very quickly, so I'm [overly] anxious for impressions.

So, if anyone wants to give me their impressions without sharing with everyone, go ahead and pm me. I absolutely will not blame you if I don't like them; I would always blame my own ears and system before I accused someone of misleading me.

Who else, besides LTUCCI1924 and bangraman, have (or will have) the A1000s? Are they the only two?

I urge some of you to be wreckless with your money, and spend it on the A1000s. Think of it as a whim, or fancy, but please just do it.

Ah... It's been a while since I fished the W100 out. Purely because of where I tend to listen often these days (at the PC on a mixing consile, or on another mixing console) I don't use the W100 very much because I know it'll be dropped. If I buy the W1000, the W100 might get more general use because I may not have to 'save' it, does that make sense? Because it sort of does to me but when I think about it, I think I'm an idiot.
Generally I think the sound is warmer on the W100, but there's definitely more punch to be heard with the A900.

And just to add, as the A1000's loosen, I'm definitely getting a 'thicker' sound out of the A1000. Not by an enormously different degree, but still detectable. The overall character of the sound is practically identical though. But for the moment, I prefer the slightly thinner sound of the A900, although the A1000 does probably sound 'better'. The 900's have had plenty of break in, the 1000 has not. I'll continue to see what happens to the sound.
