I'm looking to get into full sized headphones, and Grados seem like a good place to start. I'm looking for a good balance between SQ and aesthetics, while still trying to keep the wallet intact.

That being said, can you all let me know the used and new prices, where I can get them in Canada (west coast, BC specifically) and pictures would be appreciated as well.

RS-2 is the cheapest, but you're never going to find it to demo in Vancouver. Although the Hi-Fi centre stocks plastic grados for absurd prices (Sr80 - $119) How do you plan on ordering them?

Probably the easiest way for you to get a set of woodied grado's would be alessandro's ms-pro (I have never tried them though). I did purchase the ms1's from him and shipping worldwide is included in his price(Plus I've heard he marks all his headphones at the value of the ms1's, so if for some reason you get nicked on duties it would only be on $100, not on $700, again word of mouth).

Edit:

I'll add the Grado pictures

GS-1000 $1000

HF-1 $200 (No longer available)

MS-Pro $700

RS-1 $695

RS-2 $495

Hmmm, a little pricey for me at the moment, but thanks for the options everyone. HF-1s I might have considered if the price was slightly lower, there was a little more wood, and they were readily available to me.

Head-fiers in Canada are outta luck when it comes to Grados =(.

There's been steady supply of RS-1 and 2 for sale on 4sale forum (RS-1 for US $500 or thereabouts!). Ask the US sellers about the custom declaration (i've never seen it, but it can't be that horrible, and there was a thread about it, in this forum, I think)

Id say MS Pros. Considering price vs performance. Pay a little more for the lil guy.
Not as dark and warm as the GS1000 with a mellower mids

Also keep in mind that the RS-2 seems to have gone through a redesign so it does not come with the button anymore and the font of the engraving also has changed.

Your best bet is on the used RS2, but prices are a bit inflated in my opinion the case being that everybody who's looking to get into woodie Grado are shopping for a pair of those, so demand is high.

I'm not sure what you mean, with regards to the changes made to the RS-2. Could you post some pictures, perhaps?

I see from the pictures that the jack on the Grados might not fit my DAP. Is there an adapter for that? If so, where do I get it? How does it affect SQ? Or should I not bother with my DAP and just get new cans, an amp and source? This is getting to be a really expensive idea....
