Well for the past 7yrs i've been using my ever reliable Technica SP-F229
(I think thats the serial number, don't have then with me at work right now.)
and it only cost me 40quid from MTV.

Just recently i've got my first headphone amp (Minibox-E) and i've been amazed by how great my headphone sound.
It's made me wonder how much better can it get if i got some quality pair of headphones?....

Now you probably figured out what i'm going to say now, blah blah, stupid Head-Fi! >_<
Well its seven bloody years, and they still going strong, i can't wait for them to break~!

so it's time to get shopping!

At this moment I've got my eyes on the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro, because of the reviews of it having head blowing bass.

But spotting the Audio-Technica, i've read some good things about them, and considering the brand name sound similiar to my old and well worn indestructible headphones (dunno if its the same company?) The ATH-900 sounds good, or even the ATH-ANC70 (since the bloody air-con and frequent flights will gives me an alternative to my shures).

BUUUT I heard that AKG K518DJ are great value for its price.

I'm mainly gonig to use it with my "Home Rig" (laptop < Minibox < Headphones)

but i would like the option of portability (ok, the Beyerdynamic doesn't fit this....so sue me!)

So.....im in a dilemma, which to choose?

P.S: Oh and i prefer closed or similiar headphones because i do like a bit of isolation, the more the better I say!

Well my budget...i'm willing to go up to is around US$400

and current the music that I've been listening too is pop/rock and modern orchestra soundtracks.

Any particular reason why my current selection seems ignorable?

the only specific needs is that i do like good deep bass, (for the rock/pop) but also with some clear details to bring out the wonderful instruments on those original Sound Tracks i usually get, which doesn't always have orchestra types, sometimes its just really smooth unplug solos and stuff.

Though I'm partial to AKG, the DT-770's do have killer bass but are not what I'd call easily portable.

Also look into the A-T ATH-D40fs. Muy bass & good isolation there too.
