Ive currently got an x-mod.... its ok but from what ive read i can get better at a cheaper price... so im selling it, hoping to get around £45, which is what i paid for it.. anyway cut a long story short ive got a pair of senn hd580's and xtra x1 amp on its way and im looking for a sound card in the £45 price range give or take a bit. Ive seen a few m-audio 2496's on ebay for around £40, the m-audio 5.1 aswell as many x-fi's but im not too impressed with this xmod so id rather not get an x-fi as i really dont do much serious gaming so that isnt an issue. Theres also an audigy 4 pro going on ebay for around £35.. which should i go for, or any suggestions in that price range seems im skint at the moment

M-Audio 5.1 has a very good reputation. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

EDIT:
Just don't get M-Audio 7.1 accidentally; it has a worse DAC onboard and I believe is actually older.

i just installed the m-audio 5.1 as suggested, just as i did my xtra x1 arrived too. My headphones sound totally different, really nice soundstage ive just realised ive been missing, the amount of new sounds i can hear such as symbal taps, backing singers triangles etc that really make my music... immersive.. really gives it the wow factor, i think this is the end of my spending for a year or two.. i hope. Anyway thanks guys for the suggestions which card, which amp and headphones to get, ive been listening through an old creative live with my hd580's, really done them no justice. Anyway enough talking about them, off for a nice extended listening session seems my last exam was today too.. a little reward for myself
