Ok, I'll admit. I don't want to get a portable rig like the ones I see in the post pics thread. I don't want to spend extra on an amp considering I listen on the go from place to place in the city all the time and I don't wear enough big pockets to hold such a setup in the first place. I just want a simple, no-nonsense DAP with my Atrio M5's. So, I'm looking for the best bang for the buck. What player out there gives the best sound quality for the dollar?

Zen Vision M, but it's size kind of offsets a lot of its features

Why would you say that when it's very well known that the Zune wins hands down over ZVM in terms of sound quality.

i hear meizu's are good for the money. from my experience with my e500's i must say iaudio/cowons are great as well. good eq, high mw output for the headphones. it may not be as "warm" sounding as other daps though..

First place: Rio Karma, iRiver clix2, Iriver ifp 700 or 800 series, Trekstor Vibez (believing their owners)
Second place: Meizu M6, Samsung Yp-T9, iriver clix 1st gen.
Third place: Samsung Yp-K3, iAudio F2 & 6 (probably, same hardware as Yp-K3), Cowon D2, iRiver T10/T20/T30, iPod Nano II
Fourth place: iAudio U3, U2, G2, G3, 5, Sandisk Sansa E/C series

I haven't listened to others or were so crappy sounding that I forgot their name.

Really? I've been reading here that the ZVM has a great featureset but not nearly the stellar sound you'd find in something like the Vibez or the Clix players?

I have the iRiver ifp790 and not impressed with SQ and find it difficult to see it in same list as the Karma etc... I think it has an over processed sound... the ZVM is better in everyway, and even that does not have best soundquality about!

I agree. My iH320 is just behind the Zune. But the NHJ VHD-5100 was pure crap.

Oh no, it's 'well known' that the ZVM sounds better.
