I have the slimx and it's great ....... but if you are planning to run and stuff, it's not the machine for you as it does still skip when jogging and stuff. The Sony unit is the obvious choice - all the other players are pants!

I hope this helps.

the d-cj01....silver/clear.

Why is it the obvious choice?

Does it come with an adapter?

What about the sound quality? I listened to it with my SR125's and I have to say that the bass was kinda weak. I put the mega bass modes, it gave some punch but still, mp3's on my computer sound better, I think. Prolly because of the lack of an amp. But how does it compare to a fairly good cdp? (150$)

Any comments?

Thanks

(I have also listened to the cheaper dcj-500 and couldn't hear a difference. Is it feature wise?)

i'm not sure if the internals are the same.

what i know of feature-wise:

d-cj500:
one inch longer in length.
slightly thinner (by half inch)
no line out
9 character LCD
no a/c adapter included
$99 ($30 less than d-cj01)
does >> and << work on MP3?? don't know.

If the dcj01 or whatever comes with a dc adapter, it justifies the greater price tag.

what PISSES me off, is that in canada, they sell it 300$ can.
130$ US us 204$CAN or something.

So, in the shops, they sell it about 95$ more.
Let's see taxes. in a shop, I'll pay about 15%, so 45$.

It's going to cost me 345$, which is a HUGE investment, IMHO.

If I order it, from the US, I'll pay 7.5% GST (on 204$) That's 15$.
220$
Plus 15$ shipping, I'd say.
235$

Hello!!! That's 110$ less, what's wrong ?!?!?
If I get one, I'll order from the us.

I'd say the iRiver SlimX, or if you want cheaper, but still decent, the iRiver ChromeX. I have a ChromeX myself. The only reason that I might not want the SlimX is that it's controlled only by the remote, and I don't use the remotes, it just makes the cord too damn long. Well, I'm happy with my ChromeX. Nothing has messed up yet with it. It's only $100 USD on the official iRiver site, and the AC adapter you can buy seperately for $9 USD. The SlimX I think comes with an adapter. Both have line out though.
