First of all, hi to all of you. I have been a regular viewer here for about a year and used a lot of the advice I found to buy some Shure SE310 IEMs a while back.
I am now looking at a pair of full size headphones to be used at home in a quiet environment. I mainly listen to soul and R&b, but I am also a big fan of rap/hip hop. I also listen to various other genres, including electronic and pop.
They will be used for mainly music, very occasionally for movies and tv, but I want the emphasis to be on the music. They will be used from a Yamaha amplifier unless that is really not a good idea. It's fairly old, but I am very happy with it's sound.
I have read much about grado 225's and sennheiser hd595. The grado's appear to be more suited to rock and the senn's more of an all rounder. Having not had the opportunity to listen to either, I was initially leaning towards the grado's for the rave reviews I have read, but after delving a little deeper found that of the two the senn's may be more suited to my music choice. I don't listen to rock at all, so does this rule out the grado's, or are they going to be decent for my music taste.
I realise they are both fairly high end headphones, so both are going to sound good, I just want to make sure that I get the best my money will buy. My budget is around what the two I have mentioned are priced at.
I have a real problem with 'upgraditis' and I don't want to buy anymore after this for a while
Perhaps there is something else I should look at?
Thanks in advance!
