I've narrowed down my options and come up with some combos. The hardest part is staying at least within sight of my $225 budget. My heart is telling me to cough up the dough for the D2/X-10 system, but that's really busting the budget.

Cowan D2 Options
Cowan D2 4GB with Klipsch X-10, ~$300
Cowan D2 4GB with Klipsch X-5, ~$250

Sansa Fuze Options
Sansa Fuze 4GB with Sennheiser CX95 ~$200
Sansa Fuze 4GB with Sennheiser CX500 ~$190

1. The CX95 & CX500 are only 16 ohms, so are probably not a good match for the D2. The X-10 & X-5 are 50 ohms, so may not match well with the Fuze.
2. How big a drop-off is there from the X-10 to the X-5? My primary listening is classic rock and the main use is for travel.

As soon as Sony adds SD expansion and FLAC support I'll consider it. Until then, it's not an option.
