Hi there..

I'm such a noob here.

I'm looking for the close cans to use outdoor. Even gathering some information, I can't make a decision for the ATH-ES7 or Senn HD25.

I ever audition HD25. To me it gave a narrow soundstage, but full of details. I also heard that after recabling, HD25'll be better at soundstage.

Also, I found many people here prefer ATH-ES7. It seems very interesting for price and sound.

ps. I prefer the sound signature of Senn 650

(bassy and a bit dark but clear detail) which one should I get?

The HD25 no questions asked if you like the HD650. I wouldn't go for the Blacksilver cable though, would only accentuate the sibilance. I would suggest Blackcopper, APureSound V2 or Fitz BlackClover ( I don't know if he could do it for Senns...)

My HD25s sounded the same with the stock cable and with the Senn HD650 cable, in contrast with most of the crowd here.

I hope cable replacement fixes that.

Depends on how you ask, if you were to ask me, then I would describe my stock HD25-1's as very fun cans to listen to.

HD25-1 has a very narrow soundstage, ES7 is much better but still not very wide (frankly, HD25-1 is a disaster in that department). Imaging within the soundstage is however very good with ES7.

I have both and since I purchased my ES7 I can't see any use for my HD25-1 anymore

Well, that coming from someone that owns both, I guess that means something...

of course it will depend on your ears too, but I guess that must say smt.. ..

Thanks for that post, as I was extremely pleased with my recently acquired ES7, especially after extensive burn in, and was wondering if it can actually get any better than that in portable setup. Sound like it can't. Headband unbending mod is a must though.

I think as wide as the 650s is ok.

but is either ES7 or A700 wide like that?

even I like the sound of HD25, I think Audio Technica's very interesting because I never owned this brands' cans.

-------

This is all my cans:
PX100
HD212pro
HD555
HD650

--

amp:

PA2V2
ibasso T1
The Pig(it's coming)

-----------

now I just want the close to use instead of HD212pro that's the bloated and lack of mid cans.
