Like the topic says, which handles rock the best; the 650's, 880's or 701's?

Probably none of the big three do rock all that well, for different reasons; but if I had to pick one, I'd pick the HD650.

The disclaimer: I don't believe in style-specific headphones. I think the transducers job is to play music, not rock or jazz or classical. With that said. I listen to it all, to great satisfaction, on HD580s.

Grado RS-2's. Great all-rounders for any kind of music.

I haven't heard K701, but between HD650 and DT880 I would pick DT880, but if you include HD600 I would probably pick that one.

th0m, you have a very nice setup!
As for your choice, 650 is the answer from that 3.

That's the big three? Where's Grado? The RS-1 is a killer rock can.

since you were here last, the topics have settled on the big 3 being pretty much what the OP asked.

I would pick the PS-1 out of the R10/HE90/PS-1, although the R10 is a close second if the recording can hold it up.

The 880's, 701's and 650's are probably the most talked about cans here, so that's why I called 'em "the big three". Didn't mean to offend anyone

Anyway, it seems like I have to listen to the RS-2's and RS-1's. Too bad the RS-1's are so darn expensive.
