Hi all,

Loooking for a bit of advice...

I work in a large office with quite noisy air conditioning which really, really bugs and distracts me. My job means that I need to be able to speak to people freely during the day and as such my requirements are.

1, The Fan noise must be banished! No white noise if possible.

2, I need to be able to sort of hear whats going on.

3, They need to be all day comfortable. An On ear design would be preferable.

4, Sound quality is not an absolute priority, but they need to do a half decent job.

I have tried

ATH-A900. Sound Great but too much isolation.

Shure E2C's which I generally have only one earpiece in so I can hear whats going on, but keeps the fan noise.

Sony MDR-NC6. Seem to pretty much do the trick, apart from the white noise and terrible comfort.

So here it is, what noise cancellers fit my requirements??

My mental shortlist is.

Senn PXC 300
Denon 732's
AT NC7b

Any others I should think of??

Cheers

Hi,

Took a while to post, could not compete with the knowledge on here..

I'm a bit of a lurker and didn't want my lack of headphone knowledge to become apparent

The phones need to cut out the annoying Air con fan noise, perfect for NC's imho.

I would like to still hear people in the office though.

I can't wear earbuds as my earholes are very small, my Shures do too good of a job really, and block out pretty much everything.

Cheers

I'd try Koss Porta-Pro's. portable, foldable, on ear design. Pretty light, comfortable. Lifetime warranty (I'm on my 3rd pair under warranty), inexpensive, sound good. I've tried to replace them, but can't justifiy it for what they do for the $$$.

Thanks!, i'm loving the vintage cans as well, lots of nice gems out there.

OP , along with the sony nc40, i have an able planet headphone. the noise cancellation works very well on those. i bought the sony mainly to keep the able planets from being hijacked by family members

Thanks for the suggestions...

My father in law is in the US for the next few weeks and I will ask him to drop into target and check the NC40's out.

Current shortlist still stands but the senn 250's are the sensible option as they are cheap (only used in the office).

The heart says buy the A-T's I love AT stuff
