That's cosmic. You two should make babies.

Edit: that is, if you're not both dudes.

I am thinking about having grandenigma1 do a recable .... but they sound so good stock I am not sure I will. I do notice that my well used 400+ hour pair is more mellow and never strident or harsh sounding. The newest two pairs are still a little hard sounding at times; this after 100-110 hours and counting. The pads have softened up some on my first pair and this may be part of the change as well.

I have also noticed the 701's like current and mate particularly well with my solid state Headamp GS-1. With my tube amps the 701's remain very neutral and dont add any body to the sound. Therefore, I prefer the 5687 output tube best with the 701 ..... because this tube is the best combination of rich tone and lots of current. The very neutral and powerful 6bx7gt output tube still sounds best to me with the senn 600's using the same source/IC/ amp.

As you would expect the optimal combinations with my tube amps are different for each headphone. I am still very pleased with the 701 but I keep getting the 600's out routinely. I am very fortunate as I like both equally well; so far. I find myself reaching for the 701's first though because they are so comfortable. If I could only have one between the senn 600 and the 701, I would take the 701, because of the comfort factor and the flexible one sided cord.

Hey, as long as they're still in production, I certainly don't begrudge an owner several pairs. Once he gets on a kick for another model years down the road and the K701 is discontinued/overhyped beyond belief, that'll be four more on the market again.
