Hi Head-Fi'ers,

I'm looking for some new IEM's, my budget is about €250. I now use the Klipsch S4 with the small eartips, but like an upgrade in sound quality. I listen to all kinds of music; pop, rock, alternative, jazz, classical and some electronic music. I'm not a basshead, but do like some bass. My sources are an iPod classic 80 Gb and an iPhone 4. Both are unamped, but I may buy an affordable amp if the sound quality will improve from it (maybe Fiio E6 or E11?).

After an intensive search I ended up with the shortlist below. All of these can be found in the Netherlands for €250 max.

Sennheiser IE 8
Shure SE425
Sony MDR-EX700
Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10
Westone 2

The problem is that I can't make up my mind about which one to buy. I keep going round in circles with questions. Are my ears too small for the TF10 to wear them comfortably, will the Westone 2 sound too analytical, are the Shures overpriced etc.

I would love to hear what you guys would recommend me. Perhaps there are even other ones you think I should take a look at.

I hope you can help me. Thank you for your time.

Will the Logitech Ultimate Ears 700 with an affordable amp possibly be a better idea? Total costs will be about the same.

In seems the IE8 are not so good at isolating outside noise. I do like good isolation from my IEMs however. Following your advice and from my selection the Shure SE425 are the best I can get for my money?

I actually think the TF10s isolates quite well and I do have a great fit with them.

Haha, so do the TF10's isolate good or bad..., any more opinions on that? I´ll stay away from portable amps for the moment...

Right now I think about getting either the Shure SE425 (€233,99) or the Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 (€149,99), but love to hear more on the Sennheiser IE 8, Sony MDR-EX700, Ultimate Ears 700 and Westone 2.

I think it's important to describe the soundsignature you like and if Klipsch S4 sound close to your liking then it's easier to recommend the IEMs. I will rwcommend the Sennheiser IE8 because it's offers huge out of head soundstage like fullsize headphones and deep dynamic punchy bass with great mids, highs(overall warm, clean, detailed soundsignature) and above average isolation. If need greater isolation and balanced soundsignature then Etymotic HF5, RE272, Brainwavz B2, CK10 are recommended. BTW Sony new dome type dynamic drivers IEMs like EX600, EX7550, EX1000 are amazing to reveal the hidden details and sound dynamic, fun and offers wide soundstage with deep punchy bass and isolate quite well.

edit:
i guess if you get these kind of tips http://www.head-fi.org/t/351865/triple-fi-users-do-you-like-the-silicone-tips-but-want-better-isolation
they do isolate better, i can tell you that neither the foams nor the regular olives isolate well

My TF10's isolate fine with Comply and if you turn the tips around and put them on backwards it doesn't dull the highs out as much and you still get good bass.

IE8 doesn't idolte that well, but offer great sound(stage) and excellent bass.
Other IEMs you could consider are RE262 or GR07.
GR07 and IE8 don't need an amp, RE262 does. They can be ordered from the UK and paid with international bank transfer.
I live in Belgium, it worked for me, so it should work for people from the Netherlands.

Anyway, veel luisterplezier met je keuze, wat die ook moge zijn.
