Which headphones should I get?

Hello,

I needed a new set of headphones. I thought I'd tried some wireless ones (never had them), so I bought the Sennheiser RS110. I got 2 sets of them and each ones had that dull background hiss at low volume that bugged me. Is it normal for all wireless ones? Would the RS30 or RS40 have the same problem?

Now, I came back to the "traditional" ones and I bought a pair of AKG K66 yesterday. I'm quite disappointed with the quality of the sound, so I'm taking them back to the store. Which ones should I try next: I'm thinking to get the Sennheiser HD-477, Sennheiser HD 212Pro, or maybe the Fostex T7. I'm listening mostly to hard rock/metal music and I'm gonna plug them to the computer to listen to music and play games.

I have a quite tight budget, and here in Canada, it looks like the price for headphones is almost twice the US price...

Thanks for any help.

Sennheiser HD-477 is open while Sennheiser HD 212Pro is closed. Which type do you need?
Open cans leaks sound while closed cans don't leak much.

Hehe same here. I had to pay $200 for my Sennheiser HD-280s here in South Africa.

Well, I don't really care I think. I'd just like to get the best-sounding headphones. I read that the HD 212 Pro might be a little too "bassy"?

Yes, the HD 212Pro is a bit too bassy. But the HD 477 does not sound better, either - it sounds a bit too thick and a tad muddy.

I have not listened to the Fostex at all.

If you are interested in the Senn 477, just move up to 497s, they are much, much better sounding, but the Grado SR60s sound even better for the music that you listen to. I really did like the 497s, they were just too boring once I heard the SR60s. The Senns are very comfortable too. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

The 497 are a bit hard to find where I live and are way over $100. The Grados are also too expensive over here (only sold at a couple of audiophile stores from what I know). So, I have to choose over the HD-477 or the HD-212 Pro...I'm not too sure what is best for me: open or closed cans...

if you can't get what's been suggested so far, i think you're better off getting the senn PX100 or Koss KSC-75 than getting the 477 or 212.

Well, I finally stopped at the local Future Shop on my way home and grabbed a pair of HD-477, at a special price of $89 (they were $99)... (the PX-100 and Koss are nowhere in sight over here). I like the sound quality of the 477 quite a bit, it's a LOT better than the AKG K66. However, I feel the headphones are a bit tight and not too comfortable...Would I feel the same with the HD-212 Pro? I miss the comfort of my old Sony MDR CD-450, which were great IMO and were doing a fine job, until my dog cut the cord in two
