Which headband is on your SR-325i?

So I picked myself up a new SR-325i after being sans-Grados for a year, and I was somewhat surprised to see an RS-1 sized headband on them. It's not quite an RS-1 headband because it has no padding at all, and the leather isn't as soft and nice, but it's definitely the same width. I'd seen pictures of other's pairs of 325i and saw the thinner but padded leather headband from the previous model of 325 and expected that.

I'm just curious to know if anyone else has this.

No, he said it was made of leather. I have the same headband. It is shaped like the cheapo vinyl headband except it is made from not so supple unpadded leather. It was a replacement part I got from Grado a month ago.

imo, the wider headband is marginally more comfortable than the narrow headband, and especially so with the metal cans in the sr series, which can get quite heavy.

I was toying around with adding the padding from the HD580 to the headband of my 325's. Since they're heavier than the typical Grados like the 60, 80, 125, 225, the padding may help quite a bit with comfort.

Just for comparison, here's a shot of the MS Pros I sold a year ago, which naturally had the same headband as the RS-1. Notice the padding. The leather was also softer. For comfort, I'd rather have a thinner padded band, but I like the look of the thicker one. Still, why was the padding omitted?
