I own the P2 and have used a Touch at the Apple store and I'd have to say my P2 is better. The Touch needed to be cranked up to hear the detail in the music, while my P2 is simply the best mp3 player I've ever heard. Yes, I did use my Atrio's on both.

I'd have to say they have about the same display quality but the P2 wins out for me because it has a true widescreen display, which I love because everything I watch is in that aspect.

The only thing that's holding me to the touch is the WiFi (internet, youtube.)

I'm of the opinion that likes to keep things separate. Cellphone has its usage, PMP has its own usage and so forth.

I totally agree.

It's just convenient at times to have everything in one.

Right... but it still has functionalities that seem to be... "crammed in" to a small PMP.

they both have rather high price tags, but is it really worth the extra $50 for Wifi? Archos only charges $30 for Wifi, which you have to be near a Wifi hotspot anyway.

Most places I go have Wi-Fi, including home, work and uni...

I don't think the iPod is the best thing SQ wise and the Samsung would probably beat it in that regard... but the iPod > Samsung in every other respect, IMO.

The interface on the iPod is flawless, in everyway.

True enough with the wi-fi

Concerning the ipod>p2, the op was asking for which one has better SQ and hands down samsung players have better sound.

And just to be dubious, the interface on the touch is flawless in every way, unless you like buttons or don't want to be mistaken for being an apple fanboy who couldn't afford the iphone or the ridiculous cell plan that you have to get with it

good point. i'm going to college next year, and most schools are all wireless, so i guess that's another thing to keep in consideration.

i haven't had a change to use the iTouch interface, but it looks very nice from videos.

Samsung. iPod or iTouch always falls last from competitors sound quality unless it's iMod or line-out through amp then it's acceptable.

Care to back that up in some way? or is this your own personal opinion rather than an outlandish factual statement?

I own every single iPod and iTouch ever released. Hooked it up to a frequency reader and it didn't complete the 20Hz-20KHz spectrum. Did a little few blind test with my friends. I myself think too. If that's an opinion then it is...

Plus that EQ does nothing but makes crap sound crappier. Just my 2 cents. No offense. Like I said, opinion. I have a lot of experience with a lot of equipment so I don't judge by A|B comparison, it's much more.
