Which has a more AKG midrange? Shure E4 or UE Super.Fi 5 Pro?

Well, that is basically the whole question. It seems that most people prefer the Shure's treble and the UE's bass, what about the mids?

Yup. You got it. Sigh... I pity the uninitiated.

Well, I can't speak for the shures, but the bottom-end and lower-mids of the Super-Fi's tend to dominate the presentation.

They probably aren't more detailed than the shures, though, just from what I've read.

Compared to other headphones in their price range, the Super-Fi's are not that detailed.

It sounds to me that the superfi's midrange is more forward than the shure midrange.

Good guess.

Hmmm... looks like a tough choice. I like my midrange forward, but I am worried about the UE's bass being overpowering compared to what I am used to and I do like detail.

I would say the E4c's midrange is definately a bit on the forward side but overall the E4c's are proving to have a very nice balanced sound that is tight, punchy and a lot of fun.

elnero: Sounds like what I am looking for... but now I've been reading the UM2 threads.

Yes, the UM2 are, IMHO, a far better choice than the UE5! I haven't tried the Shure's (yet) but I would would read my review of the UE's before making a commitment that you might not be able to change.
