That's what I have so far. I'm not going to make this a poll since more offers might come in as it's been less than a day. Thanks for the help all!

Going on looks alone, that Gibson is awful pretty.

Strats...love em. I have a 1997 Collector's edition, the first Mary Kay re-issue version, and a G&L sunburst .... but Strats are everywhere.

I can't get into the Jaguar site ... but I have a mid 70's American Jaguar, so I know what they look like. I remember looking at a Japanese Jaguar a few years ago, and while I know the Japanese Fenders were good guitars, it had a cheap feeling to it compared to the American original.

I vote Gibson.

Id go american strat all the way unless you can save up a bit and get an EJ Strat new or used.

I own one and it is simply amazing the tones you can get from it. Nice vintage tone!

Thanks guys! Basically I'm looking for a "change of pace" axe from my acoustics and my LP. I was leaning towards a singlecoil, so if the Gibson ES-135 guy takes a pic of his and it ends up being the P-90 version, game over, hello trade.

I guess you're right about the strats. Why trade away for something so commonly available like a US standard, even if they do throw an epi jazzbox in right? and the mexi and japanese bodies do give you pause, even if they are aftermarketed up to the hilt.

ok, i'll report back when i get pics of the actual blueburst in question, and if i field any other offers, thanks!

edit - you know, i found another shot of a blueburst and it's starting to grow on me. this one has PAF humbuckers on it, which would be great too. hmmm....

I did a quick search on the Gibson, and based on the range of price/price paid am getting the feeling there's both an American and Korean version....although I was under the impression anything badged "Gibson" was American made. Obviously this would make a difference.

Doh. Not a bad thing to ask, I definitely will!

Edit - ah, found it. Epiphone made a lesser copy of it, indeed made in Korea. Suffice to say I'll look out for anything that looks like this-

oh and i fixed the jag pics. basically it's a short scale jazzmaster from japan now, hehe.

Jahn,

Are you looking for a mint condition 1965 Fender Blackface Deluxe? It is non-reverb. It sounds absolutely ridiculously good. All the trannies and chokes are original and the amp was repaired and re-power-corded by Blackie Pagano himself.

Also, don't get that Gibson. You already have an LP. Get the Strat.

Better yet, get a Tele. Once you get a Tele you won't look back.

Let me know if you are looking for a great sounding vintage amp. I have three Blackface Fenders from the mid-60's. I'd like to get rid of one of them.

I repeat! Do not get the 135. If you want a gibson with single coils get an original 125 from the mid 50's.

I have owned dozens of guitars in my life and I really do know about this particular topic.

The 135 is waaay too similar to the LP. It's like have HD600 and HD650 as your only two headphones.

That gibson is beautiful, but if you already have a LP, then I'd go with one of the strats. I personally like that eric johnson one you posted. Things have already been 'tweeked' to get a unique sound.
