X2 on this sentiment, although I have never heard the GS1000. IMHO, never buy a pair of Grado RS-1s new if a trusted head-fier is selling a well cared for used set. They come up on the FS boards with some regularity. You'll save lots of $$$ and get the same sonic benefit. I got mine used and have no regrets!
