Which is better of the following:

SONY MDR-EX85LP Earphone EX85 Headphone
or
Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket

I'm using these for my ipod nano and I am wondering which is the better choice; or if you do not think these are that great please feel free to recommend others of which I should buy instead.
Thank you

I would generally advise against Skullcandies, as they're pretty bloated with bass. If you're upgrading from stock, they're not bad, but you could do a lot better.

In this budget, you could get the Sennheiser CX300's, or the Ety ER-6i. Browse Headroom for more options.

I haven't heard any of these, but from what I've read, these two options seem to be pretty popular and decent.

Skullcandies are for high school kids who want to impress their friends who shop at Hot Topic, not for serious listening.

They are actually worse than Bose now.

Between the two, I would go with the EX85.

However, there are more options, most of which have been noted by the fine people previous.

I might also mention the Ultimate Ears Super Fi. 3 from Amazon. I believe they run around $65 (and you get the free shipping).

Many people here on Head-fi really like them. I will say, however, that I haven't heard them (as the Crossroads Mylarone X3's are supposedly very similar, but with a weaker build quality...the super fi.'s used to be more).

Here's the link:

Newegg.com - Creative EP-630 3.5mm Gold-Plated Connector Canal Noise Isolation Earphones

they are in no way better than the ex85's. the ep630's are devoid of mid range and have a very shrill top end, not far removed from the ex71's. the ex85's are very close to the ex90's. if you dont mind the odd cross canalphone/earbud shapes and the lower isolation, they will give you a more competent mid range and half decent top end, separation is far better and the bass is a lot tighter.
