Since my D2 screen is cracked twice and the warranty voided, I need a new PMP. I have it narrowed down, between Cowon and Sansa.

Cowon D2/D2+ 16GB
Sansa Fuze 8GB
Sansa View - 32GB

Storage is essential as my music collection will be growing. For the Fuze/View I would also be buying a 16GB MicroSDHC card and if I get another Cowon, I would get a 32GB SDHC card. Which of these would you recommend? Your feedback is appreciated and thanked in advance.

Be careful with the 32GB SDHC card with the D2/D2+ - there's a limit of 4000 tracks on the card, at least with the current firmware. If you are using lossy files and the bitrates are low, you could surpass that limit.

As for the Fuze, I think the current maximum capacity for MicroSD is 16GB, at the moment. That, plus 8GB maximum on the unit is still significantly less than a D2+ 16GB + a 16GB SDHC card.

Just a note: internally the fuze and the view have entirely different hardware from competing vendors, so, it can't be assumed that they sound the same.

That's good to know, and most of my music is sadly in lossy files.

Why no Cowon S9 or Samsung P3? 32GB's should be fine if you're considering 8GB Fuze + 16GB card.

I am trying to keep it around $200 or not much more, we'll see, the S9 is kinda big and the screen seems much easier to crack than the D2. And with my PMP in my pocket most of the time it could get cracked without my knowing.

I'll look into the P3, the 16GB version is about $175 on shop.com.

Well, I am going to be going to Best Buy tomorrow and give both a listen. I know I listened to the Fuze before and I love the sound quality on the Fuze. But I will definately check out the View tomorrow too.

Very. I think I'll sell mine for $100, 4gb D2 w/ a 16gb Transcend SDHC, negotiable.
