I'm looking for a good closed phone for those times when you just need to turn the outside world off, and the Beyerdynamic DT 770 seems to fit the bill quite nicely. However, I'm aware of the many different versions of the 770's, but have no idea which one is technically superior in terms of sound quality.

I remember reading something on this forum that said the DT 770 Pro (80 ohms) was better than the current DT 770, but I could be mistaken. I'm sure this has been talked about before, but I'm rather impatient and like to get current responses instead of relying on information from 2 years ago or whatever the timespan.

Is there any particular reason why the "Pro" version is better than the current 32ohm and 250ohm DT 770s? It would make sense, however, that the 600 ohm model carry improvements over its younger siblings because there has to be a reason why the product is so much harder to drive, be it larger voice coils, slightly better cable, or something else.
