I’m thinking of getting a pair of CFA Andromedas but am not sure which variant to look out for as there are so many and I heard the tuning on them is significantly different especially between 2016,2020 & Emerald Sea. I’m currently using thieaudio mk2 and enjoy them but feel they are getting a bit boring after using them for about 2-3 years now. I remember trying an andromeda a few years back and really enjoyed how bright and fun it sounded but was worried of fatigue if I used it for too long so went for the MK2. But now I’m looking for something and the Andromedas are popping into my head but aren’t sure which to choose

Ponderosa could also be considered…🤔. And welcome BTW!

Monarch II to Andromeda might be a big disappointment, IMHO.

I have Andromeda 2020, and I think its tone is rather warm and thick rather than bright, especially if you compare them to IEMs like Monarch. The imaging is still the highlight (which I think better than Monarch II), but the bass and dynamic is a big loss. Simply put, Andromeda just does not feel like it has wide dynamic range, especially in large orchestral recordings. The BA woofers of Andromeda 2020 is no where near as good as the modern BA woofers in 2024 IEMs. Resolution is still quite good by today's standard, but there are quite a few $200 IEMs released this quarter matching or exceeding it.

Personally, I prefer the Emerald Sea over the 2020 due to more dynamic sound, but it can also sound duller than the 2020. But since you mentioned something "bright" and "fun", I would recommend CFA Supermoon instead, if you want to stick to CFA.

Thanks for your suggestions, I don’t necessarily need to stick with CFA, open to other suggestions especially if they are good and a bang for my buck
