I think that the LaRocco has to produce the best sound quality, for IEM's and for full sized cans. The problem could be the hiss that it produces with some IEM's.

Hiss?

Anyways, the Tomakawk was designed for IEMs specifically, which is more than any of the other amps can claim to that end.

Dont know about the tomahawk, but I think its quite similar with the hornet I got, just that hornet got a little more gain.

The hornet has no hiss on low and med gain with my e4, at high gain you can hear some obvious hiss past 10'o clock, but at that volume level, you would kill your ear first...

And one thing i notice, unlike what skylab said, the hornet actually has a slight turn on thump on the e4.

I cannot live without the hornet right now, and its not even fully burned in yet!!

I'm assuming you have iems because you want them for portability, unless you got them strictly for the isolation. If portability is important, I'd go for the Tomahawk. I have a Larocco PRII and a Hornet, and just got an SR-71 this week. All were fine with Ety ER4-P/S and the SE530s and SE420s (no longer have the Shures so don't know with the SR-71), but there is a slight hiss with the Larocco and the Etys. I'm thinking of selling my Hornet to get a Tomahawk for strictly portable use. I love the sq of the larger amps and will keep them for bedroom/work rigs, but don't want to carry them around with me all the time. I'm personally thinking nano>ALO line out>tomahawk>Ety ER4P/S/Yuin PK1. We'll see.

Supermini? Do you mean the supermicro, or is there a supermini?

I got IEM's for the portability, mostly the isolation, but also because I don't want to be in public with huge cans.

So, I gather I should go with the Tomahawk? Maybe I'll get the LaRocco also (that is, if I can find it) and use the Tomahawk for portable use, and the LaRocco for work/travel use.

Thanks.
