I bougth a Sennheiser HD 600.
Have AV-Receiver Sony STR DE 470 and DVD Player Philips 722.
Its not really good, i know. Maybe next year i want to buy a good cd-player.
I want to build or buy(to exp.) an amp.
Now i am looking for the right one.
I have read a lot about the meta42, mg head, earmax, etc.
OK, i do not need a portable amp.
Maybe battery power supplie is better ???
Then, the amp should have cinch line in.
How can i find, the build instcuctions for the mg head or earmax pro ? I only find meta42 (www.tangentsoft.net/audio).
What is the right amp for me ?
Price range aprox. 100 $
Are the tube amps so much better ?
Sorry for my bad english.

Greetings from germany

Matthias

yo,
im in about the same position as you,
only that i am quite sure that ill go for the mg head.
Now after some extensive searches on the net i still havent found any german dealer for the amp...
After all that i heard about the reliability of the MG head i would vastly prefer not to buy from a us based dealer, so i'd be able to get a possible problem fixed without a lot of trouble.

can anybody point me to a good source for the MG head in germany?

Why not build the meta or ppa ?
Probably easier to get parts in germany and the "hard to get parts" you can order by tangent.
And even support from tangent is very good
And, what can i say, the ppa is great.
Yesterday night finished and tested.
Great soundstage, very clear.
I real step forward in contrast to meta.

Just wanted to add that i found a Munic-based asl certified dealer that will order (takes 4 weeks - grr...) the MG-head otl mk2 and grant a 14 day return policy. Its 380€, delivery to anywhere in germany included.

Seems pricy, but given the problems some have had with the amp i think its worth it.

yeah the ppa sounds fantastic even with a standard wallwarts ... sounds better than tubes imho, and better than anything in its price range ...
